EXCEPTIONAL UNUSED VINTAGE 1960s HAND-WOVEN TURKISH RUG - 6 FT x 10 FT 2 IN
This is an incredibly rare opportunity to acquire a true piece of textile history: an authentic, hand-woven Turkish rug from the 1960s that has NEVER BEEN USED—making it a genuine New Old Stock (NOS) vintage item.
In magnificent, pristine condition, this rug has been professionally washed and cleaned and is ready to take its place in your home immediately.
Key Features & Craftsmanship:
Size: A versatile and sought-after room size: 6 feet x 10 feet 2 inches (approximately 183 cm x 310 cm).
Age & Condition: Expertly woven in the 1960s. Its unused state means the colors are vibrant, the pile is full, and the overall condition is flawless—a true investment piece.
Material & Texture: The rug is woven entirely with high-quality, natural sheep's wool (wool on wool weave), which gives it an incredibly soft and luxurious texture underfoot. This natural material ensures exceptional durability and longevity.
Design & Color Integrity: It features a striking, traditional Anatolian tribal design characterized by bold, geometric medallions and stylized motifs. A major highlight: All primary colors, including the dominant field color (rich brown) and the cream/gray accents, are the natural, undyed colors of the sheep's own wool. Only the accent tones of green and red were dyed, lending the rug an authentic, organic, and earthy palette.
This piece effortlessly bridges history with contemporary style, offering rich texture and character. It is the perfect centerpiece for spaces designed in the Organic Modern, Bohemian, Tribal, or Wabi-Sabi aesthetic.
Color Analysis
The rug features a sophisticated, naturally-derived palette:
Camel/Saddle Brown: The dominant field color. This is a rich, warm brown that is a natural, undyed wool color, providing an incredibly earthy foundation.
Natural Cream/Ivory: Used extensively in the central motifs and borders, offering a bright, natural contrast. This is also an undyed wool color.
Natural Gray/Taupe: Subtle shades of gray/tan from the sheep's wool add depth and dimension to the stylized motifs.
Deep Red/Burgundy: A striking, dyed color used for prominent outlines and central geometric elements.
Forest/Moss Green: A beautiful, dyed accent color that highlights the stylized tribal motifs, providing an unexpected yet harmonious touch of color.
