These … Read more This is an Outstanding Example of an Authentic American Primitive Small Size Egg Gathering Basket. Circa Late 19th Century. These Types - Styles of Baskets were Primarily Produced and Used in North Eastern America New England and Down East Coastal Maine Regions. It has a Steam Bent Carry Handle and it is Completely Hand Made - Hand Woven out Sturdy Indigenous North American Ash Wood Splint. The Attention to Detail would Indicate that it was Made by a Well Seasoned - Experienced Basket Maker. The Top Rim is Bolstered with a Sturdy Double Wrap Steam Bent Ring that is Attached - Wrapped in the Weaving. It is in Exceptionally Nice All Original Untouched as it Has Survived Over the Years Condition. It is Strong, Sound and has Developed a Wonderful Naturally Aged Color & Patina - Displays Beautifully!. No Damage - No Repairs. These Smaller Size Baskets are Hard to Find and Very Desirable by Today's Collectors.
