Watercolor painting by Thomas Aquinas Daly, titled "Two Wild Iris" circa 1987.

Thomas Aquinas Daly is an American painter known for his poetic landscapes and still life paintings. Educated as a graphic artist at the University of Buffalo, Daly spent over twenty years working in the commercial printing business before devoting his full attention to painting in 1981.
Since then, his work has been displayed in many different exhibitions at museums, galleries, and universities across the country, as well as appearing in print publications.
Daly was awarded the Grand Central Art Gallery's Gold Medal at the opening of his New York show in 1987 by President Gerald R. Ford, and is the author of two books: Painting Nature's Quiet Places (1985) and The Art of Thomas Aquinas Daly: The Painting Season (1998).

This particular painting is from the 1987 show opening in which Daly won his award, and features documentation from the event on the back.
