Constructed of solid seasoned oak, the cabinet displays remarkable craftsmanship, from its architectural step-back case and mitered corners to the richly sculpted relief carvings that adorn each of the three paneled doors. The quality of carving is refined without excess, allowing the warmth and character of the oak to remain the dominant feature.
The façade is beautifully balanced with three generously sized drawers above three cabinet doors, each embellished with deeply hand-carved shell and foliate motifs inspired by the grandeur of the Louis XIV period. Rounded corner returns, molded panels, and the graceful shaped apron soften the cabinet’s substantial presence while demonstrating the cabinetmaker’s attention to proportion and detail. Original brass escutcheons complete the restrained elegance of the design.
Crowning the cabinet is an impressive, thick marble top, carefully shaped with a contoured edge that follows the flowing lines of the case below.
