Up for sale is a highly collectible graphic work, signed by one of the greatest masters of 20th-century Italian art: Salvatore Fiume (1915-1997). This is a fine color silkscreen, a rare example given its extremely small print run: the work is numbered in pencil 6/99 at the bottom left. Owning one of the first copies (number 6) of a limited series of just 99 pieces significantly increases its value compared to larger print runs.
Subject and Style: The work depicts the artist's favorite theme: the Odalisque, or the exotic female figure. The woman is portrayed reclining in a pose of sensual abandon, set against a vibrant background featuring a stylized red sun. The style is unmistakable: the synthesis of forms, the use of earthy and warm colors (black, ochre, red), and the exquisite detail of the white lace stockings, which create an exceptional textural and chromatic contrast with the figure's dark skin. It is a tribute to the Mediterranean and exotic beauty that made Fiume famous worldwide.
Signature and Authenticity: The artist's pencil signature "Fiume" is at the bottom right. The number 6/99 is at the bottom left.
