This exceptional piece represents one of the most sought-after series in swedish mid-century ceramics and is the largest model produced within the faenza range.

inspired by italian faenza pottery traditions and natural forms—particularly stipa grass—the vase features a warm honey-toned glaze accented by striped turquoise detailing. The robust yet organic form, combined with its rustic shape, reflects atterberg’s masterful balance between strength and refinement.

the faenza series was produced for a single year only and consisted of a limited group of bowls and vases, making surviving examples increasingly rare. Each piece was deeply stamped on the underside with ue, sweden, abg, and the model number, confirming its authenticity.

ingrid atterberg (1920–2008) was one of upsala ekeby’s most influential designers, responsible for numerous iconic designs from the 1940s through the 1960s. Faenza remains among her most highly regarded works.
