Possibly sauce bowls or little condiments plates
Exquisitely decorated by hand in Imari style with the typical palette: iron red, underglaze cobalt blue, and 22 karat gold
The design includes intricate stylized floral motifs, medallions with miniature traditional landscape and delicate gold highlights as well as a dynamic scene with fish in water in the center of the plates
The Imari pattern, also known as Golden Imari, was inspired by traditional Japanese porcelain patterns sourced from the port of Imari on the island of Kyushu, Japan.
The marking at the bottom features four underglaze kanji characters
Circa second half of the 19th century - Edo / Meiji period, Japan
