A substantial set of five late 19th-century antique carved wood dining chairs, dating to approximately circa 1880–1900. These chairs reflect Renaissance Revival and Victorian influences, with richly carved stretchers, paw-form feet, and original or period-appropriate leather upholstery secured with nailhead trim.
Each chair is constructed from solid wood with a warm, dark patina and showcases hand-carved decorative stretchers with scrolling floral motifs. The chairs are upholstered in deep brown leather on both the seats and backs, secured with original-style nailhead trim. The leather displays beautiful age-related creasing and wear, consistent with antique use and highly desirable for its character and authenticity.
The chair backs are tall and architectural, with carved crest details at the uprights, lending a strong presence at the table. The legs terminate in distinctive claw- or paw-form feet, adding visual weight and grounding the design. All five chairs match in form, scale, and detailing, making this a cohesive and impressive set.
These chairs would work beautifully in a traditional, Tudor, Spanish Revival, or Old World–inspired interior, and pair especially well with carved or trestle-style dining tables.

All five chairs are structurally sound and stable, with age-appropriate wear consistent with late 19th-century use. The leather upholstery shows natural creasing, patina, and surface wear, as expected for its age. The wood frames display minor surface wear and finish variations. One chair has a small area of loss to the tip of one carved paw foot, as shown in the photos. This loss is minor, does not affect stability or function, and is barely noticeable when the chair is in use. No other significant structural issues observed. Please review all photos carefully, as they are considered part of the description. less
