I am not sure if it is an antique or vintage, or where it was made. I have learned that this type of early basket (possibly Appalachian) was traditionally made for gathering a fresh harvest of eggs or garden vegetables. Its distinctive double‑pouch form made it ideal for carrying fragile items safely from the barn or garden, by keeping them on each side, and not able to roll around. At home in farmhouse, cottage, Americana, rustic, or Southern‑inspired interiors, it’s beautiful filled with fruit, linens, yarn, or simply displayed on its own.
