Joe Monroe B.1959 Neo-Fauvist
Born in Hoopeston, Ill in 1959. Attended Illinois State UniversIty where he majored in Art. Moved to San Francisco where He continued to paint. Four years later, he moved to L..A. in 1983 and began selling his work. Joe was known as an emerging artist and the word got out. He did shows for Fashion weeks In Downtown L.A, showed in Downtown artist's shows and galleries. There was so much exposure in L.A. that he became a known artist by selling lots of work. He was taken in by Patton /Duvall and Dyanson Galleries in Los Angeles, Sherwood Gallery in Laguna Beach, Ron L.. Stevenson Gallery in La Jolla, A. Allen Gallery in Palm Springs and the Dianne Stevenette Gallery in Los Olivos, Steiner Gallery in Miami Beach and the Susanne Brown Gallery in Scottsdale AZ . Reminiscent of his inspiration Pablo Picasso, Joe called his style Naive Whimsical art. See less
