Celebrated for his unique style and craftsmanship, Mats has developed new techniques for sandblasting glass and new design ideas, with a focus on capturing wildlife images in handmade crystal. His feeling for shape, his accuracy of style, and his attention to detail has gained worldwide recognition among collectors.
Målerås glassworks was founded in 1890, during a period of industrialism in Sweden. A century later, the glassworks was threatened by take-over or shut down. Led by Mats Jonnason, the community joined forces around Målerås glasswork’s destiny, and the future of their village. Today the glassworks employs 90 people, up from 15 in 1981. See less
