This refined pair of lidded ceramic vases was produced by the renowned Dutch manufacturer De Sphinx, based in Maastricht.
Dating from the mid-20th century, these vases feature a classic baluster form enhanced by an elaborate polychrome floral decoration. The design combines stylized flowers, scrolling motifs, and geometric borders, reflecting both Delft traditions and Oriental-inspired decorative arts popular in post-war Europe.
The vivid yet harmonious color palette — blues, greens, ochres, and reds — gives the pair a strong decorative presence while remaining elegant and well-balanced. Ideal as statement pieces on a sideboard, console, or mantelpiece.
