Mid-20th-century vase that perfectly blends two excellences of Made in Italy: Empoli green glass and Italian design. Undeniably made in Italy around the 1970s, this generously sized vase is composed of two elements: the vase itself, handcrafted—as evidenced by its irregular shape and the cut of the glass paste on the underside—and a pedestal that frames and encloses it within a brass structure.
The vase still retains its original label and is made of the well-known and beloved Empoli glass, a material deeply rooted in the Tuscan winemaking tradition. Empoli glass reached its peak during the 20th century, turning the town into a major glassmaking hub, famous for its distinctive green glass used for traditional straw-covered wine flasks and later for artistic and colored glass production. The sparkling, highly glamorous brass cage that frames the vase—made of brass panels—recalls the work of renowned Italian designers. This structure effortlessly modernizes and elevates a type of glass traditionally associated with rural contexts, giving it a refined and contemporary elegance. The vase is in good vintage condition, with no breaks or chips, showing only minimal signs of age and use. The brass surface has been thoroughly cleaned and treated with a specific product. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
