This elegant Mid-Century Modern daybed was designed in the 1950s by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen and manufactured by France & Daverkosen in Denmark. This model is from the rare Minerva series and is considered an outstanding example of post-war Scandinavian furniture design.

The internationally renowned design duo are among the most important representatives of Danish Modernism. Their designs are characterized by functional clarity, perfect proportions, and innovative construction.

The daybed impresses with its architecturally clean, solid teak wooden frame, which embodies the typical floating lightness of Scandinavian design. A characteristic feature is the elegantly shaped wooden backrest, which supports the wedge-shaped back cushion and allows the piece to be placed freely in the room.

The cushions rest on the original, characteristically rubberized spring webbing, which offers exceptional seating comfort and is a key feature of many high-quality Danish designs from this period.

The seat and back cushions have been newly made and upholstered in a high-quality bouclé fabric from Kvadrat/Sahco – one of Denmark's leading premium manufacturers of furniture textiles. The new upholstery combines contemporary comfort with the authentic character of the original.

Condition:
Very nicely restored vintage condition. The teak frame has been carefully cleaned and refinished. Only minor signs of age, such as small scratches and minimal scuffs, are visible. The cushions are completely new and in like-new condition.
