Polychrome stucco head of Baby Jesus, Italy, Tuscany, 18th century. These heads of Jesus were applied by nuns to cloth bodies stuffed with straw, dressed in habits, and displayed in the nativity scene on Christmas Day. Given the fragility of the materials, the bodies often disappeared over time. Excellent condition, original polychrome.
