An imposing Lombard solid wood frame from the second half of the 19th century. Richly carved with Neo-Renaissance masks. Following the unification of Italy, Milan developed an eclectic style of furniture that drew inspiration from past styles, particularly Gothic and Renaissance. Ferdinando Pogliani's workshop is the best known, where ebony and ivory were used extensively in the decoration of furniture, mirrors, and frames. Our frame belongs to this style and was crafted with great care, using thick sheets of ebonized wood, expertly carved and attached to a pearwood core. Its quality is evident in its weight. Excellent condition.
