Among the artists who created paintings comparable in subject matter and style are the leading master of the Roman High Baroque, Carlo Maratta or Maratti (1625-1713), Giovanni Battista Salvi gen. Sassoferrato (1609-1685), and his Florentine contemporary, Carlo Dolci (1616-1686), within whose circle or circle of disciples the creator of this painting was probably found.
