the subtle inset of the legs in the tabletop is particularly noteworthy, achieved by delicately reducing their cross-section, further emphasized by the narrowness of the planed area.

in japanese, the term "wabi" evokes a sense of calm and solitude, reminiscent of the life of a hermit monk, fostering a connection with one's inner voice. "sabi" means rusty, old, or patinated, and more broadly, expresses elegant simplicity. Introduced to the west after world war ii, these concepts allow us to understand the sensitivity and singular effect of pieces made from raw materials, one of the most emblematic representatives of which is the designer george nakashima.
