This decorative pair of antique French faience oil lamps was produced by the Faïencerie de Gien in the late 19th century and features a richly detailed Renaissance-inspired décor on a deep black ground.
Each lamp is hand-painted with classical scrollwork, floral motifs, and figural scenes typical of Gien’s historic Renaissance patterns, and rests on its original brass base. The lamps retain their pierced brass oil burner elements with keys, contributing to their authentic character and visual appeal.
Originally designed as oil lamps, the pair has been professionally converted to table lamps for modern use. The conversion is discreet and does not interfere with the painted surfaces. Both lamps are wired and functional.
These lamps are best appreciated as decorative antique lighting, offering strong visual presence and historic charm, ideal for traditional, European, or eclectic interiors.

Antique condition consistent with age and original use. The faience bodies show visible historic repairs and stable hairline cracks, documented in the photographs; one lamp shows more pronounced repair lines than the other. Brass elements display age-appropriate wear and patina. Converted from oil lamps to electric table lamps. The electrical wiring and sockets are vintage and have not been updated to new condition, but both lamps have been tested and are in working order. Felt pads added later. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
