She is best known for atmospheric views of live oaks, winding paths, and Spanish moss. This painting is very much in the Charleston Revival/regional impressionist vein. This work is signed lower right “Marie Taylor Burton” and stylistically aligns with her known palette and brushwork: loose, vertical strokes, cool blues and greens, and a quiet, moody treatment of light.
