The canvas is stenciled on the back ‘J Broom &Son, Church St, Norwich’ Broom & Son were founded in 1898 as ships chandlers supplying ship builders in Norwich in the late 19th Century. Apparently, painting supplies such as stretched canvas, was part of their inventory.
