Signed lower right, "Dignimont" (French, nd painted on Arches Paper circa 1950.
A substantial, mid-century interior with a man and three, variously robed, women engaged in a variety of pursuits. In the foreground, a seated nude attends to her sewing while a second nude leans against a balcony window gazing at a harbor filled with the wooden masts of sailing boats. To the left, a partially clothed woman solicits the attention of a young man holding a pipe.
Born in Paris, André Dignimont first studied at the College Juilly and then worked in London before returning to Paris to study at Académie Julian. A prolific artist and illustrator, his work reflects his love of provocative women, the demi-monde and café life through which he documents his unique insight into the mid-century, Parisian experience. The recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards, Dignimont exhibited widely and with success over four decades, including at the Salon D’Automne, the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Tuileries, and Salon de L’Araiguée. He was also a notable book illustrator with illustration credits for over fifty books.

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.
