This is a wonderful early vintage botanical photograph of wine grapes from a 1902 French 4 volume portfolio, "Encyclopedie de la Plante", an “artistique” and “documentaire” collection of botanical prints. This Beaux-Arts print collection featured the “Vigne” referring to the “vine” in a natural scene. This image has a graphic quality characteristic of this period of photography. Note the detailing in the texture of the grapes and the veinging of the leaves. Note too the rich quality of high and low contrasting gray tones. This makes great home decor for the wine collector or the oenophile. 11 ½ x 15 inches.
