This piece has not been refinished and retains its authentic surface character consistent with age and careful use. The mahogany veneers are intact and well-preserved, including the finely executed inlaid motif on the top drawer, which remains crisp and clearly defined. Wood grain throughout is rich and vibrant, with natural tonal variation characteristic of period craftsmanship. All drawers open and close smoothly. Drawer interiors are clean and solid, featuring original dividers in the top drawer. Original brass drawer pulls are present, secure, and function properly. Minor surface wear, light scratches, and subtle variations in tone are present, primarily on side panels and edges, consistent with age and normal use. These do not detract from the overall appearance and are considered part of the piece’s authentic patina. The back is finished in a utilitarian manner typical of antiques of this period.
