Entertainer Marguerite Dufay performed in the Parisian music cafés in the late 19th century, classified as a ‘comique excentrique.’ A … Read more Entertainer Marguerite Dufay performed in the Parisian music cafés in the late 19th century, classified as a ‘comique excentrique.’ A comic eccentric was a performer in the Parisian music halls who played not only regular musical instruments, like her trademark trombone, but also created instruments out of bottles, anvils, hammers and the like.

This 1893 stone lithograph is by French artist Louis Anquetin and was used as a poster for her appearances.

There are two embossed seals in the lower right corner -- one for "Les Maitres de l'Affiche" and one for "Impromerie Chaix" -- plus the year 1883 is penciled in on the lower left corner. Slight damage to upper left corner. This is also marked as "PLATE 150."
