A museum-quality example of Mid-Century Polish folk art, this hand-woven wool Kilim was designed by the celebrated artist Jolanta Borkowska for the Cepelia cooperative circa 1960-1970. Featuring a sophisticated, modernist-inflected pictorial scene, the rug showcases Borkowska’s signature style: a balance of traditional Slavic folklore and 20th-century graphic abstraction.
The weave is tight and professional, executed in 100% natural wool with a characteristic flat-weave texture. The earthy color palette and geometric floral/scenic motifs make it as suitable for a wall hanging as it is for a low-traffic floor accent.
