Reminiscent of the tribal yua, from the Sepik river area, which is carved from seashells and used as a currency, for centuries, this disk is from a transversal cut of Onyx, carved and polished for a smooth and shiny texture. The beautiful inclusions in the stone are visible throughout.

The perfect inner circle is a traditional expression of Asian spirituality and culture since prehistory, mostly represented in the "Bi" disks in all types of materials.

It rests freely on a bespoke metal stand, for a total height of 9.5 inches. The disk itself measures 5.25 inches in diameter, approximately 1/4 inch thick. The stand base measures 3.5 inches wide by 2 inches deep. See less
