George III sterling silver baluster tankard with gilded interior, English antique silver mug, c.1774
An outstanding 18th century Georgian sterling silver tankard crafted in solid .925 silver with a rich gilt (gilded) interior, and fully hallmarked for Newcastle, 1774. Made by noted Newcastle silversmith John Langlands, this is a museum-quality example of English provincial Georgian silver with excellent scale, weight, and presence.

This classic baluster-form Georgian tankard is raised on a spread circular foot and fitted with a tongue-capped scroll handle. The exterior features later-applied late Victorian 19th century hand-chased decoration, including sunflowers, foliage, and garland swags, surrounding a vacant scrolled cartouche—never engraved and ready for a crest or left beautifully plain. Inside, the original gilded interior remains impressively bright, adding warmth and refinement.
