It has gorgeous federal / neoclassical shaping and a sleek mahogany and gilted wood body. But the real show stopper is at the crown! It boasts an entirely hand crafted and hand carved gilted wooden floral finial where the curvaceous flowers bloom out over the mirror! Hepplewhite pieces were especially popular in early American states along the Eastern Seaboard, from New England to the Carolinas and we can see why! This precious mirror was passed down through multiple generations as an heirloom and kept safe in storage by an antique dealer all the way through 1990. They were under the impression that it was an authentic Hepplewhite piece. However, it is not marked or signed. The rich mahogany wood frame has sleek column like design with hand carved intricate detailing around the mirror. The top portions at the crest have their original gold gilted finish (slightly worn from age, but still regal and impressive). The backside has a metal wire for easy hanging on any wall. If you are looking for a Hepplewhite, neoclassical, or federal statement piece....this is it!
