This large scale piece brings together the quiet authority of an early American gilt frame with a modern abstract composition, creating a finished statement designed for large walls and collected interiors.
The frame, produced by Newcomb-Macklin Co. in the early 20th century, features a wide, architectural profile with a softly aged gilt surface and refined proportions. Its intentionally crackled finish adds depth and texture without visual heaviness, allowing the frame to read as warm and dimensional rather than ornate.
The contemporary abstract painting by RK Red is executed in acrylic and gesso, with organic forms and subtle surface variation. The palette was selected to harmonize with the gilt frame, allowing the artwork to feel grounded, calm, and resolved at scale.
