A beautifully rustic old African hand carved wood oversized mortar and pestle created by the Dogon people of Mali. It was used for pounding grain. It is decorated with geometric designs and figures. Note the large chip on one side of the foot of the mortar. The pestle also shows wear and is ornamented with geometric designs. An interesting piece of tribal art that makes a handsome display piece.
