This is an authentic Hermès silk scarf professionally framed. "Kachinas" was designed by Kermit Oliver in 1992. This vibrant and very detailed scarf celebrates the Hopi tribe (American Southwest). Kachinas are spirits who are said to live on the mountain peaks of San Francisco. They are not considered spirits of God, but friends who come to the villages to sing, dance, give gifts to children and most importantly bring beneficial rain for crops. During religious ceremonies, Kachina dancers are the masked representatives of the spirits and the manner in which they are dressed depends on the spirit that they represent. The Kachina dolls representing these dancers were traditionally offered to the children of the Hopi tribe. Today, many are made for tourists and collectors.
The frame is made from durable aluminium for a timeless and elegant look. It includes a white mat board border, crystal-clear acrylic glass and a sturdy wooden backboard for lasting support.
Frame comes in four different colors: Midnight Black, Off White, Copper Bronze, Moon Silver & Orange Gold. Feel free to send us a message if you'd like a different frame color than the one listed and we will happily replace it for you.
Please note this silk scarf is in good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use. The frame is brand new and custom made to perfectly fit any classic 90x90cm Hermès scarf.
