Stunning, hand-welded brutalist sculpture by Chicago artist Richard Bitterman. Bitterman excelled at creating wondrous sculpture like this work, where he assembles countless pieces of metal into fantastical shapes. Exemplary of the period with its exploration of form and material, Bitterman was most known for his jewelry work and you can feel his release of those constraints with this particular work. The sculpture is evocative of a flower -- the triangular "petals" swirl around the core "blossom" that emerges from the center of the work.
Very cool period sculpture
