A work of absolute historical and collectible value, composed of two antique oil paintings on wood dating back to the 17th century.
Subject and Style: The two paintings, placed side by side, depict the faces of two Putti or Cherubs. Despite the dark patina caused by the centuries (certifying their authenticity), the typical features of 17th-century painting are clearly visible: the soft skin, the gazes turned upward in ecstasy or contemplation, and the skillful use of chiaroscuro. The painted surface features a pronounced craquelure (network of cracks) and signs of aging, giving the paintings a unique and unrepeatable charm.
Mounting and Frame: The two works have been mounted within an elegant wooden box frame with a silver finish. The frame is unglazed, a choice that allows one to fully appreciate the materiality and depth of the antique oil painting. The thickness of the frame (6 cm) creates a depth that transforms the object into a sort of museum display case.
