Superb and important Buddha from the Mandalay period, Burma, 19th century, in gilded wood on a wooden base.
This unusual large Buddha has a superb patina and is richly decorated with glass beads. He holds the myrobalan fruit in his right hand, an allusion to the healing powers of Buddha.
The face has a beautiful expression and his eyes are made of glass.
Superb patina and in magnificent condition. Some wear from use.
