Striking and sculptural, this “Eclipse” floor lamp was designed by Evert Jelle Jelles and manufactured by RAAK in Amsterdam, The Netherlands 1964. A hallmark of mid-century Dutch design, the lamp features a distinctive aluminum double hemisphere shade that can rotate to partially or fully obscure the bulb, creating an eclipse-like effect that gives the lamp its name. The brushed aluminum shade is suspended in a white-lacquered wire frame and mounted on a slim steel base with rubber feet, all contributing to the minimalist, architectural character of the piece. The interplay of form and function allows for atmospheric, indirect lighting that’s both sculptural and practical.
