The piece of furniture shown is a variant of the side table belonging to series no. 413 by the renowned firm Jacob & Josef Kohn. The table has identical dimensions to the known reference; therefore, both a later adaptation and a commissioned work by the Kohn company are conceivable.

This important series was produced from 1901 onwards and presented at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. It is known for its innovative design and high-quality craftsmanship. The design for the series originated as early as 1900 and, based on stylistic features, is generally attributed to the artist Koloman Moser. However, a contemporary advertisement by the Kohn company explicitly names Professor Josef Hoffmann as the designer. Given their close collaboration within the Wiener Werkstätte, joint authorship cannot be ruled out.
