It originates from the Netherlands and was … Read more Unfortunately, the designer and builder of this striking, red-painted wooden armchair is unknown. It originates from the Netherlands and was likely crafted in the 1960s or 70s with limited skill. Only upon closer inspection does one notice that not all the pieces are cleanly cut. This suggests that this armchair was not mass-produced. But this is precisely what makes it such a charming and unique piece. The side panels are made of solid wood, while the seat and back are plywood. It boasts a robust and stable construction. It appears to have been repainted by previous owners at some point, and the paint is slightly worn in exposed areas. A repair is visible on the underside of the front left leg. However, this is sound and only noticeable when the armchair is turned upside down. This does not detract from the otherwise generally good condition of the chair. Moreover, the armchair is surprisingly comfortable and therefore requires no upholstery. The seat height is approximately 27 cm. See less
