Excellent art nouveau design, executed in the early 1920s: youthful beauty with art nouveau headdress on her hair tied at the nape of her neck, her naked body covered only by a cloth draped around her hips and falling to the floor, standing in a slightly bent stance, holding a chalice aloft in her left hand and leading a tiger on a leash with a long garland of roses slung around her arm and cascading down her back. On a tall green marbled oval base with floral festoons in relief around the edge. The art nouveau design dates back to the period when the goldscheider factory switched from reddish-brown terracotta to light-coloured stoneware. In search of a new stylistic identity, the company experimented with clay, colours and glazes. This also includes the period from 1918 to 1920, when ownership passed to walter and marcell goldscheider.
