Excellent condition limoges porcelain the exaltation of colour, combined with form and rhythm so dear to sonia delaunay, reaches its height in this porcelain vase. The artist’s rhythmic compositions lend themselves perfectly to this three-dimensional object, which brings together square and rectangular faces. The screen-printed motif on the square face is complex. It combines an interlocking arrangement of elementary geometric shapes such as squares and rectangles—echoing the form of the object itself—with discontinuous lines and curves. Delaunay constructs a circuit of her characteristic primary colours, which collide with one another in a constantly shifting movement. This bold composition reveals the profound essence of her art, in which colour assumes a constructive value, independent of any meaning or subject. this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
