Whilst modest and unassuming upon first glance, this cigarette case is a wonderful and meticulously crafted example with its quality and attention to detail being superior to most counterparts of its period. The overall case is made from a good gauge of silver with a reassuring and solid feel in hand. Furthermore, its overall curvature is a wonderful touch, allowing for the case to sit flush against the thigh or rib cage depending on whether it is stored in your trouser/blazer pocket. The front side is finely hand-engraved with two crests, adding just the right touch of embellishment and contrast to its minimalist design, presenting an unmistakable and classically stylish Victorian antique appearance. The lid is spring-loaded and opens with the press of the side button and can be opened with one hand - the mechanism remains smooth, strong and crisp upon closure, a further testament to its overall quality. The interior is fully silver gilt (gold on top of solid silver) which not only creates a lovely contrast to its exterior silver colour but adds a layer of protection to prevent the content held within from tarnishing the silver.
