The solid copper is coated with a proprietary finish. The solid copper is coated with a proprietary, secret transparent finish developed 26 years ago which creates the rich dark color and a natural depth and variations you see on the photo.
Unlike plain polished copper, it will not tarnish and become black, but will retain the exact color you see.
This finish has been tested in salt water on copper pieces that have been bent back & forth first with no signs of tarnishing after a month of submersion.
So far the finish has withstood 26 years without tarnish or aging
