A rare and finely carved pair of 18th century Portuguese Baroque wall sconces, hand-carved in solid wood with foliate scrollwork and opposing bird motifs. Retaining original candle arms and rich, aged surface patina, these sconces show honest wear consistent with age and have not been rewired or altered.
Acquired in Estoril, Portugal, and accompanied by an original 1959 bill of sale and written declaration from A. Pacheco de Carvalho, Antiquário, confirming the sconces as genuine antiques already more than 150 years old at the time of sale. Original documentation is included with purchase.
