Markowski was born in Depew, New York in 1922, was raised in Detroit Michigan and ended up in San Antonio Texas in the 60's/early 70's. Bill Markowski studied at the Detroit Museum of Arts in the 1930's - in the 1940's he attended the Meinzinger Art School also in Detroit Michigan, and he studied fine art from George Rich of academic background and Leon Makielski a portrait painter. He also studied 2 years at the University of Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato Mexico, and studied 2 weeks under Dan Lutz (guest artist at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas). Bill had numerous exhibits and One-Man Shows at the International Institute in Detroit, Michigan and also at the St. Mary's University and Witty Museum in San Antonio, Texas. There were also exhibits at the Koscusko Gallery in New York and at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, D.F.
