Authentic antique memory jug featuring an allover surface of embedded porcelain and ceramic shards, including floral china and colored glazed fragments, hand-set into a dark earthen binding. The jug retains its original cork-and-metal stopper, a detail strongly associated with late 19th to early 20th century utilitarian and folk-made vessels.
Memory jugs were traditionally created as deeply personal objects, often incorporating broken household ceramics to commemorate people, events, or places. Each example is entirely unique; this piece has strong sculptural presence, rich texture, and unmistakable age.
