Rogers Bros. silverplate sugar spoon in the Assyrian Head pattern is circa late 1800s. The design features a face with flower and scrollwork designs, and the bowl of the spoon has a shell pattern.
The spoon is six inches long and the bowl of the spoon is 1 5/8 inches wide.
This is an antique in great condition although it has been used. There's some minor tiny pitting on the back of the handle (see photos).
The back is marked "1847 Rogers Bros A1." "1847" does not refer to the year the spoon was made, but rather to the year the Rogers brothers started their business. "A1" was the mark they used to indicate high grade silverplating.
Beautiful, elaborate silverplate spoon would be ideal to use for afternoon tea. It's unique design makes it a stand-out piece for any occasion, and it would also be a wonderful addition to a vintage spoon rack display.
