1960s oil on canvas painting depicting the Venetian waterfront at Piazzetta San Marco, with views of the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Campanile, and gondolas along the quay. Executed in a traditional Italian veduta style, the composition is inspired by historic Venetian view painters such as Canaletto, Francesco Guardi, and Michele Marieschi, and is painted in the likeness of F. Guarana.
Signed by Giorgio Guarana (b. 1908, Venice), a graduate of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, this work represents an original mid-century revival of classical Venetian cityscape painting. Housed in a gilt wood frame, the piece is a strong decorative work suitable for traditional, European, or eclectic interiors
