The set features an exquisite hand-painted romantic scene, executed in soft pastel tones with rich gilded ornamentation on a deep blue ground. The decoration reflects the aesthetic of French Rococo revival, inspired by 18th-century pastoral art.
The porcelain is exceptionally thin and translucent, indicating high-quality production. The painting is entirely hand-executed, with delicate brushwork and fine detail. The composition bears the signature Cottin, attributed to a decorative artist working in Parisian ateliers of the period.

On the underside, beneath a later applied black mark, traces of an earlier blue mark are visible, suggesting an original factory marking that was subsequently concealed - a known practice in late 19th-century decorative porcelain.
This piece remains in outstanding condition, with no chips, cracks, or restorations. Gilding is bright and intact.
