The composition is richly decorated with deep cobalt blue enamel, finely applied gilding, and delicate ornamental scrolls. The architectural scene is painted by hand and signed Cottin, indicating an experienced decorative artist of the period.

A crowned mark is present on the base. It appears to have been applied later.
