Q21 “Silent Life with Bust of Apollo” by Giorgio De Chirico 1962, panel on special Fabriano paper created from a literary work by the Artist, now out of print. TREC Edition – Prestigious Editions. Framed, dimensions 51x65 cm. Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978), founder of metaphysical painting, investigates the beyond through dreamlike, silent atmospheres and disorienting perspectives. The series of works that he himself defined as "silent lives" portray common objects with a sensitivity to detail sometimes described as "neo-baroque", transforming them into mysterious icons in front of which the image of classical deities of rationality appears incongruous and insufficient to evoke an unresolved melancholy and temporal suspension.
